The ShellHouse Restaurant is a locally-owned family seafood restaurant conveniently located off I-95 at exit 94 in Savannah, Georgia. In business for over thirty-five years, The Garrett Family has consistently committed to serving the best fresh quality seafood in heaping portions. It was established in 1983 on Wilmington Island at Turner’s Creek, now called Hogan’s Marina. That first restaurant tragically caught fire, and the building was a total loss after only six months, but undeterred. The Garrett’s sought another location, purchasing the vacant “Oasis of Georgia” in 1987. This oasis once served Georgia as its welcome center. Work was underway to transform the building into a place where visitors could get a delicious meal of the highest quality and plentiful portions. With sons, parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends all working, on September 24, 1988, the doors of this oasis were now The ShellHouse Restaurant.

It was fun chatting with one of the locals at the bar who said this is one of her favorite local places for quality seafood, I took her recommendation and ordered the fried shrimp, my wife had the fried catfish, The fried shrimp was absolutely amazing! Then we topped it off with some amazing peach cobbler and ice cream! Highly recommend this place.
Highly recommend checking out The Shellhouse since they've reopened. We had an amazing experience and the service was impeccable. We were party of 12 and they served us efficiently and with ease. We did arrive at 345 and they open at 4, and a line was already forming so I highly recommend getting there earlier. Food was amazing and fresh and honestly you can't get as much food on your plates anywhere in the Savannah areas for the cost as you can here. Highly recommend!
We stopped here on a whim during our road trip. Best decision ever!!!! The portions are HUGE! We ordered the cast net and it was enough to share and have some to go! The flavor of the alligator tail and hush puppies were so good. Service was so fast. We never asked for refills and they came! The food only took about 5-10 minutes and was hot and fresh tasting. The restaurant has cool fishing theme decorations and is family friendly. There's outdoor group seating and lots of space between tables. We will be back!
Haven't been here since moving back to Savannah area 7 years ago, took my wife here for date night we walked in as they opened and our food was delivered 10 minutes after we ordered it, the waitstaff AWESOME, the owner visited our table twice and talked to us like we knew each other for years ...so much shrimp to take home and it was cooked just right!!! Glad you are opened again!
